THERMOSETTING PHENOLIC COMPOSITE (TPC)
DIS offers an alternative fire-rated insulation foam in the form of Thermosetting Phenolic Composite (TPC) which is also used in applications looking for higher fire ratings, enhanced temperature controlled applications and controlled environmental projects.
TPC can be a more cost effective solution to PIR, while still offering enhanced R Values ranging from 1.7 to 8.0 m2/Kw.
Features
Excellent fireproof properties
With thermosetting forming coupled with the use of fire isolation principles, a product with excellent fireproof properties is produced. With carbonised after burning and no meltdown, there is no secondary burning.
Efficient thermal conductivity
With a R Value ranging from 1.7 on a 50mm sheet to 8.0 for a 250mm sheet, the heat conductivity properties are superior to other types of insulation materials such as EPS and mineral wool.
Environmentally friendly
There are no toxic additives added to the formulation to create the fire proofing properties of the TPC. Fire testing results produce low smoke emission results and no toxic substances. The TPC material is 100% recyclable.
Non-absorbent
Having excellent breathability and being fully waterproof, this eliminates the growth of mildew and other bacteria which can have serious health consequences in the food processing industry. The waterproof ability stops the build up of internal ice in freezer applications and any water-loging of the insulation.
Cost effective
The unit cost of TPC is much less than equivalent fire rated insulation cores such as mineral wool and PIR. With superior R Values, its costs when assessed on thermal efficiency is similar to EPS.
Lower density
TPC material can be produced at a lower density than other incombustible insulation materials, making it lighter and easier to handle.
Excellent physical properties
The material has excellent compressive strength, flexibility, acoustic values and dimensional stability. Coupled with its fire properties, this makes it ideal for a large range of end uses.
Extensive application range
TPC can be easily cut on site and therefore is very suitable for wall and ceiling cavity infills in industrial and domestic applications. It is also ideal for laminating to exterior skins, such as plasterboard and steel which adds to an extensive range of insulated building panels.
